The AQHA Congress is the world’s largest single-breed horse show, with more than 22,000 entries in 2019. Held annually in Oklahoma City, the weeklong event features competitions in a wide range of disciplines for American Quarter Horses of all ages and abilities. This year’s Congress was held from October 5-13.

In the cutting competition, Jayme O’Neill and her gelding Metallic Cat took home the coveted title of World Champion Senior Cutting Horse. It was a well-deserved win for the pair, who placed first in both the preliminary round and finals. Reserve World Champions were awarded to John Mitchell and his mare Stylish Playgirl.

The reining competition saw some very close scores, but it was eventually Nicole Rivelli and her stallion Gunners Special Nite who took home the World Championship title. Second place went to Andrea Fappani and Custom Made Gun, while third place went to Craig Schmersal and Whizkey N Diamonds. There was a new champion crowned in the working cow horse competition this year, as Tricia Bentz and her mare Smart Little Lena Rose topped a field of 29 competitors to take home the gold medal.
